Climate & Class: Who pays the price for the green transition?
The climate debate is often presented as a matter of individual choices: electric or petrol, train or plane, plant burgers or beef. But what if the climate crisis is just as much about power, economics and inequality?
Come and meet Christoph Houman Ellersgaard, co-author of the acclaimed book Klima & Klasse, as he presents the book’s key points and discusses what they mean for the climate struggle in Denmark. Drawing on research into inequality, elites and power, he shows how the climate crisis is closely tied to social and economic divides, and why a just climate policy takes more than appeals to individual consumer habits.
The book argues that the climate struggle risks ending in a culture war between different groups in society unless we also tackle the large differences in income, resources and CO₂ emissions. What does this mean for the green transition? And how do we create solutions that both cut emissions and strengthen social justice?
Join us to learn more about the links between climate, class and political options for action, at a time when the need for broad public support for the green transition is greater than ever.
